SFPD Bylaws - Section 4.2 – Applications For Membership

A. Any person 18 years or older, of good character, having a valid Missouri driver’s license, and meeting statutory requirements may apply for membership.
B. All applicants must reside within the District or within five miles of its nearest boundary unless otherwise approved by the Fire Chief and the Board of Directors.
C. All applicants for membership shall be submitted to the Fire Chief for his or her consideration and recommendation to the Board of Directors at the next scheduled monthly meeting.
D. Approval by the Board of Directors shall constitute acceptance of the new member.
E. Upon request of the Fire Chief or Board of Directors, an applicant may be subject to a background check and/or medical exam.
